West Berkshire Council are planning to build up to 2,000 houses on greenfield land at Sandleford Park in Greenham.

Greenham already has nearly DOUBLE the number of homes that it had in 1995, and another 1,500 homes are about to be built on Newbury Racecourse with no new roads, schools or doctors' surgeries.  We don't need any more houses in Greenham!

There are several sites in West Berkshire that could provide the homes we need over the next 15 years:  Denison Barracks and IAH Compton to name but two.

The message is clear - Say NO to Sandleford.

We'd really appreciate it if you would give your postcode so we know whether you are a West Berkshire resident.  Anyone can sign, of course, but perhaps understandably, the Council will be more likely to listen to local West Berkshire people.

WE, THE UNDERSIGNED call upon West Berkshire Council to:

- scrap current plans to build up to 2,000 houses on Sandleford Park;

- reassess the status of the Sandleford site in the Local Development Framework; and

- concentrate on its commitment to re-using previously-developed land to meet West Berkshire's housing needs in preference to building on greenfield sites such as Sandleford.
