Why the cuts are wrong
Paramedics don’t replace Emergency Care
30% of ambulances don’t carry a paramedic. And even when they do paramedics can’t perform all the treatments needed in urgent cases. In such cases the time it takes to get a patient to hospital can be critical.
Lengthy waits
The maximum wait time for patients visiting A&E is regularly being exceeded.
Records going missing
Following the reorganisation and transfer of records, many were lost leading to cancelled appointments and wasted trips.
Increased travel costs
A taxi from Burnley to Blackburn costs at least £15. even when cases are first treated in Burnley, follow up care sometimes requires a trip to Blackburn.
