The children’s ward at Burnley General is to follow emergency A&E services in being transferred to Blackburn

Whilst minor children’s conditions will still be treated in Burnley, any children requiring an overnight stay will be transferred to Blackburn.  Parents will face a 20 mile round trip, or struggling with public transport to visit sick children.

This is the second ward at Burnley General to face closure in the last few months - health bosses are consulting on closing the recovery ward.

We oppose the closure of the children’s ward at Burnley General.  On top of the loss of emergency services at Burnley and other threatened cuts, enough is enough.
