Do you want to have your fingerprint scanned by clubs and bars in Cardiff city centre every time you go for a night out? Do you want to give your personal contact details to the door staff just to get a drink?

That's what
South Wales Police are calling for. They want to make it mandatory for clubs and bars in Cardiff city centre to introduce fingerprinting technology, claiming that handing over personal details will make Cardiff safer.

Cardiff Liberal Democrats say it is an outrageous and unwarranted attack on your civil liberties. The vast majority of people cause no trouble at all on nights out, and Cardiff has one of the safest city centres in the UK! We don't believe that clubs, bars, or the police have a right to demand your fingerprints and contact details.

To back our campaign against the mandatory introduction of fingerprint technology in the city centre, just sign the petition below. Together, we can stop Cardiff becoming a police state.

We, the undersigned, support the Cardiff Liberal Democrat campaign against the mandatory introduction of fingerprint technology in Cardiff city centre.
