Leader of the opposition group on the council has set up a community campaign against Labour's budget cuts that will mean the end of Islington's floral displays and hanging baskets.

Cllr Terry Stacy said: "Many residents have contacted me to share their upset at this cut. It is short sighted to think that by removing these flowers and the small amount of money that will be saved is worth the greater impact on Islington and its residents we urge the Council to look at cutting waste and worthless propaganda instead.

Residents can use this petition site to let us know their views. I will take all comments and signatures to the next Council meeting."

We the undersigned residents call upon Islington Council NOT to cut the wonderful hanging baskets and flower displays across Islington/Highbury, they generate great pride in our area and we are enormously proud of them Islington has become a nicer place to live as a result of these and other measures to brighten up our streets.
