Local Councillor Jon Hubbard has called on Wiltshire Council to end the misery of local residents by closing the commercial lorry park in King Street Car Park, Melksham.

Cllr Hubbard says, “I am delighted that the town council has agreed with myself and with local residents that it is unacceptable that the lorries are parked in this town centre location.”

“I have visited the site and experienced the conditions for myself. The lorry park itself is covered in litter and waste, and on a sunny day the smell is just unbearable. Only those who live in this area can really testify to the horrors of having a lorry start up at 4am in the morning right outside your bedroom window!”

“I hope that Wiltshire Council will recognise the importance and urgency of this issue and address the issue in the immediate future. It is also vital that a proper out-of-town site is identified and proper facilities provided for the lorry drivers as soon as possible.”

I/we the undersigned support Cllr Jon Hubbard’s call for the Commercial Lorry Park in King Street Car Park to be closed
