Despite the financial crisis, the Conservatives in London are jacking up ticket prices, making London's transport system one of the most expensive in the world.

Did you know that?

·        Boris Johnson is ramping up Tube and bus fares in the New Year just as the credit crunch really starts to bite

·        The overall rise is of +6% but some fares are rising by a whacking +11% , double the rate of inflation

·        Tube fares are set to rise above the rate of inflation every year for the next eight years  

 

What the Liberal Democrats propose:

·        A freeze on London Tube and bus fares

·        The planned increases in January to be abandoned to help struggling families during the economic crisis

·        To fund the freeze by making savings in Transport for London's budget and by extending charges for the most polluting cars.
