Against Post Office Closures

We now know that, in Labour's latest round of Post Office closures, Reading is due to lose five Post Offices. These will be at Erleigh RoadBasingstoke Road in Whitley, Hemdean Road in Caversham, Wantage Road in West Reading and Kentwood Hill in Tilehurst.

Reading Liberal Democrats oppose these cuts to essential local services and call on the government and Royal Mail to reconsider . Mrs Ha Ta, the postmistress at Hemdean Road vowed to fight the cuts and welcomed the local Liberal Democrat campaign against them.

Lib Dem campaigner for Reading East,  Cllr Gareth Epps said "Any downgrading of local services is unfortunate but to be losing three Post Offices in our local area at once is madness. Lib Dems and local residents will be campaigning strongly to Save Reading's Post Offices"
