For too long now, residents living in and around Clitheroe Town Centre have had to endure the effects of of late night drinking in the town centre.

With several establishments open until well into the early hours, town centre residents have to put up with being woken by drunkeness, rowdiness and other forms anti-social behaviour.

Clitheroe has a long proud tradition of having residents who live in the centre of town, however this is under threat as the lax licensing laws make life intolerable for them.

Local Lib Dems believe enough is enough and are calling on the Police to have a zero-tolerance approach to all these forms of behaviour as well as insisting that Ribble Valley Borough Council's Environmental Health Officers take a proactive and robust stance against noise nuisance.

I / We the undersigned are deeply troubled about the lax licensing laws that apply to several Clitheroe Town Centre establishments and the corresponding drunkeness, violence and anti-social behaviour, that occurs in the early hours after these establishments close.

We call upon the police to operate a zero-tolerance policy towards all this behaviour and in addition call upon Ribble Valley Borough Council's Environmental Health Department to operate regular and strict monitoring of noise levels from any premise that is open past midnight.
