Developer Supports Post Office Plan

We are delighted to report that Multi, the company behind the new Southgate development, has backed the campaign to put a Post Office in as part of the project.

It is clear that everyone now realises that this area of town will require its own post office.  The new development includes over 90 new homes as well as all the shops.  Add to this that customers from Charles Street and Widcombe were asked to use Southgate as their alternative office following those closures.

Sadly, Post Office Ltd have not revealed their plans to us.  Don Foster commented, "I have received a reply from Post Office Ltd.  It was a very vague reply, and did not answer the specific question I had raised about have a branch within the new development.  I am disappointed that this letter does not allow us to progress."

Remember, you can submit your objection to the closure, and call for the Post Office to open a new branch in Southgate by e-mailing consultation@postoffice.co.uk

We the undersigned oppose the closure of any of Bath's remaining Post Offices.  We believe Post Offices provide a vital service to the community and must be kept open.

Two Post Offices Saved in Bath

Residents in two of Bath's communities are celebrating today, as Bear Flat and Lower Weston post offices were saved from closure.

Don Foster MP, with local Councillors from Lyncombe (David Bellotti and Marian McNeir) and Newbridge (Caroline Roberts) visited the saved post offices today to celebrate with staff and residents.

But we do not yet know if there will be another Bath post office nominated for closure.  Don Foster will be campaigning hard should that be the case, but for now the day is for celebration!
