The Mayor has announced that from February 2011, nine out of ten London Underground stations will have their ticket office opening hours reduced.
Many Underground stations will have their ticket office opening hours slashed as a result of these proposals. The proposals are also set to hit some of London's busiest stations.
45 Underground station ticket offices will be open for less than three hours a day. In total across London, there will be a reduction in opening hours of 7458 hours every week!
As well as being a huge inconvenience to all Londoners and visitors, any reduction in ticket office opening hours is likely to hit those most vulnerable such as the elderly and disabled the hardest. Without the assistance of the ticket office staff, many vulnerable people will be discouraged from using London Underground altogether.
In 2008 Boris Johnson made a manifesto commitment to safeguard ticket offices. We want the Mayor to honour his commitment to Londoners. Consultation on the proposals has been poor with no formal announcement that the consultation had even started. This website is your chance to have your say on the Mayor's proposals.
