The Labour government have announced that 2,500 Post Offices will close nationwide over the next year - many of these in Wiltshire.

This is on top of the 4,000 it has closed since coming to power in 1997, and the thousands more that the Conservatives closed while they were in power.

Wiltshire's Liberal Democrats have condemned these plans and believes that a radical new approach is needed to turn loss making Post Offices into successful profit making businesses.

Duncan Hames, prospective local Lib Dem MP said "Post Offices are the lifeblood of local communities.  They provide vital services for the elderly and self-employed and they bring extra business to other local shops.  Labour have stopped local Post Offices from diversifying to bring in new business and they are now dying a long slow death, along with the communities they serve."

Duncan Hames campaigning for the survival of our Post Offices.
I, the undersigned, back the Liberal Democrat campaign to save local Post Offices in Wiltshire and condemn Labour plans to close 2,500 Post Offices nationwide. I further call on the government to free up local Post Offices to diversify into new areas and create more business for themselves so that they can become successful profit making branches.
