The Conservative-run county council are once again proposing to close the Wiggenhall Road household waste recycling site.

This site, much used by local residents, is run and managed by the county council. They suggest that those who currently use the site should instead travel to other sites in Elstree, Rickmansworth or Bricket Wood. Last year, the site had over 218,000 visits.

After a campaign from the Liberal Democrats and local residents forced the county council to step away from closure two years ago. Now we must press them once again to keep the site open.

The closure of the site would lead to many extra car journeys for local residents with round trips of 10 miles to most of the other sites. Whilst the current site is not perfect, the loss of the site will lead to an increase in car journeys and carbon emissions and could increase local fly-tipping.

Local councillors have been deluged with objections from residents. If you want to see the site stay open, please sign the petition below.

We, the undersigned, call on Hertfordshire County Council to retain the Household Waste Site in Wiggenhall Road, Watford. The site is popular with local residents and its loss will lead to an increase in car journeys and greater flytipping.
